Joselyne Navarrete
Joselyne's interests involve adolescent development and the many factors that shape who young people become. Joselyne is curious about how culture, family upbringing, and mental health influence identity and well-being during adolescence. She is also interested in exploring community-based interventions that provide support and resources for youth, helping them grow into successful and content adults. In the HDE lab Joselyne conducts individual research on the human universal aspects of what it means for emerging adults to belong in community. Joselyne is also a McNair scholar who conducts an independent research project under the guidance of Dr. Tedd McDonald, a faculty member from the Department of Psychological Science at Boise State University. They are focusing on Stakeholders’ Perceptions of Idaho’s Mental Health and Substance Abuse Delivery System for Children and Adolescents: Implications for Improvement. Joselyne is passionate about understanding the challenges adolescents face, as well as the protective factors that can positively influence their development. Outside of the HDE lab, Joselyne enjoys spending her time outdoors, and trying new things, and exploring new places and cultures.
